Construction Guide

How the Furniture for your Home is Made

Sofa frame - traditional upholstery techniquesFrames

All our bespoke, handmade sofas and chairs are constructed from the finest kiln dried beech that is glued screwed and dowelled, and we incorporate two-inch base rails for added strength and durability. All our frames can be individually tailored to your requirements.

 Construction of Seats

At Makers we only use traditional fully hand sprung seats in all our handmade sofas and chairs.  This is not a route that the majority of furniture manufacturers would take due to the extra time and skill levels required.  With the comfort and durability our seats will give you we believe without a doubt that this sets us apart from our competitors.
