Interior designers often contact us with ideas for something really specific they are working on. More often than not, the deadline is really tight! But recently an interior designer from London contacted us with a brief for a small dining table for a very particular kitchen space. Luckily, his timing was perfect and we were able to give the really short turn around. We were able to make his oak table in just under the 4 weeks that he was after.

Sometimes a designer will provide us with just a sketch – which is fine, we can work our way through drawings and ideas between us to reach something we are really happy with. This time everything was done for us. The designer provided us with CAD drawings of the kitchen layout and ‘before’ pictures. It was really hard to imagine how the finished space would look from this picture. I am so glad the designer could see what we couldn’t!

The Dining Table Design
The dining table needed to allow easy movement in and out of banquette style seating. So there would be bench style seating on two sides. And the client would place chairs on the other two sides. The dining chairs would need to be pushed right in underneath the table top. The overall dimensions were to be L140cm x W90cm x H75.5cm. We would give the table top an angled edge and the two pedestal legs would be turned with a diameter of 9cm.
It was also important to be able to take the base and top into the house separately and attach them together once on site. Access to this London house really was quite limited. This is something that we always ask about right at the beginning with clients, to make sure we can deliver easily on the day. Some of our bespoke tables are huge and unbelievably heavy, so it is important to get this bit right. We learned this lesson the hard way very early on in our business!

So everything went smoothly in the making of the table and Ezra was able to personally deliver the order for our client. And as is my usual custom I follow up any delivery with a last email or call to ensure our client is happy with everything. I always ask for pictures too, and this time we were well rewarded.
